I absolutely love the historic grandeur of Washington D.C. weddings, and this was one for the books! Weddings at the Perry Belmont House always feel like a fairytale. The stately rooms, ornate wallpaper, and gilded architectural features of this 1909 mansion are the perfect backdrop for any love story, and it was an absolute joy to celebrate Abi and Christian’s big day there.
Abi and Christian chose a clean and elegant color palette for their big day. When you have a venue like the Perry Belmont House, there’s no need to over-decorate! The venue stands on its own and all you need to do is enjoy the ambiance.

Abi and Christian chose to have their first look at the Perry Belmont’s iconic grand staircase. We ran around like chickens with their heads cut off, but it was worth it to truly celebrate all the amazing angles and views to be had!

Clad in beautiful satin champaign and classic black, the wedding party arrived in style! The colors Abi and Christian chose paired beautifully with the gilded aesthetic of the Perry Belmont House. Instead of contrasting with pops of color, they chose to accentuate the existing beauty.
One of my favorite additions to the wedding party? Their adorable puppy, Marcel! He was the sole pop of red, which is exactly how it should be 🐶

Abi and Christian wanted their portraits to feel like a renaissance painting. That, combined with an admittedly darker venue, led us to use off-camera flash for some high-contrast images, unique, images that let them shine.

I don’t normally advocate for flash during a wedding ceremony. The goal is to be as unobtrusive as possible! However, after a discussion with Abi and Christian, we decided to add some off-camera flash so that they, and the gorgeous backdrop, popped.

In an absolutely gorgeous room with ornate burgundy wallpaper, this dinner was one of my favorite parts of the day! Each room at this Perry Belmont House wedding offered it’s own unique vibe, and it was so fun to photograph each and every one of them. The tables were adorned with classic white orchids, and for a fun touch, Christian designed and built their wedding topper out of legos!

It was officially time for the party to start! Abi and Christian’s wedding reception was an absolute blast. After the couple made their grand entrance, Christian danced with his mom while Abi celebrated with her mom and brother. It was a truly magical moment.
Once the party began, Abi surprised everyone with an outfit change! They danced the night away before finally ending with a unique “bell-ringing” exit.

I have to say this was one of my most technically challenging weddings! The venue was absolutely gorgeous, but a bit dark. So, I had to get extra creative with flash in order to make sure everything was well lit while still celebrating the vibe they were going for.
I had so much fun celebrating with Abi and Christian. They are such an amazing and elegant couple, and I can’t wait to see what life has in store for them. Want to see more of their amazing style? Check out their engagement session at the National Gallery of Art!
